Biography
Tobias Gjedrem Furholt (b. 2001) is a Norwegian conductor. He made his first appearances as a conductor at age 14 and has been mentored by Professor Bjarte Engeset since he was 17. As a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music he is currently part of the Post-Graduate program in conducting.
Tobias has had the privilege of working with several orchestras, such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. He was selected for the Nordic Conductor’s Forum for the 2024/2025 season and was a Conducting Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School 2025. Tobias is a part of the Norwegian Dirigentforum.
In addition to his work as a conductor, Tobias is an active percussionist. He finished his bachelor´s and master’s degree in percussion at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. As a instrumentalist, he has collaborated with ensembles such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
